Kentucky senator and Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Bunning was kicked off the schedule for autograph guests at the Gibraltar Trade Center show Dec. 13-14 in Taylor, Mich., because the show’s promoter was upset that Bunning voted against an auto industry loan package in the U.S. Senate On Dec. 11.
“Being a business owner in Michigan for over 30 years, I simply cannot support anyone who, in my opinion, votes against the economic well-being of our great state,” said Jim Koester, organizer of the Gibraltar show. Bunning spent nine years of his career with the Detroit Tigers and threw a no-hitter for the team in 1958.
