Strasburg’s one-of-a-kind 2010 Bowman Chrome SuperFractor rookie card is being sold on EBay Inc.’s auction website, with the bidding currently at $16,101 after opening at 99 cents. The auction closes May 29.

The listing for the auction says the seller is from Burke, Virginia.

Strasburg, the No. 1 pick in Major League Baseball’s 2009 first-year player draft by the Washington Nationals, is in Triple-A and tentatively scheduled to make his major-league debut during a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates from June 8 through 10, ESPN reported, citing an unnamed person from within the team.

The 21-year-old Strasburg, who went to San Diego State University, agreed in August on a contract that gave him a $15 million signing bonus, eclipsing the amateur-record $10.5 million contract Mark Prior received from the Chicago Cubs in 2001.

Since joining Triple-A Syracuse on May 4, Strasburg has gone 3-0 with a 0.39 earned run average in four starts, striking out 27 batters while walking just four.

The equivalent card for Nationals rookie pitcher Drew Storen, who has a 1.69 ERA after being picked nine places behind Strasburg, is being sold on EBay with a “Buy It Now” asking price of $4,999.

A Honus Wagner baseball card from 1909 was sold at auction in 2007 for $2.8 million to an unidentified collector, breaking its own record. Wagner was one of the first five players inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame after playing shortstop from 1897 through 1917.
