Press Pass has a new owner, but collectors of the company’s trading cards and other products aren’t likely to notice much of a change.
Last week, RC2 Corp., sold off its RC2 South division – which houses Press Pass, its JoyRide Entertainment trading card games and Ertl sports die-cast operations – to FCS Enterprises. RC2 South was based in Charlotte, and those operations will remain in Charlotte under the new ownership and operate under the name Press Pass Inc.
As a result, Press Pass Inc. is continuing with plans to release its various product lines as normal in 2007 and beyond. The new company also believes there are opportunities to grow the business through expansion of its current product lines and possibly acquiring new licenses.
“Our product teams are excited about launching our products under the Press Pass banner,” said Bob Bove, who has been with Press Pass since its formation in 1992 and will remain as managing director of the new company. “We look forward to introducing additional innovations to the trading card industry.”
“Our late 2006 and early 2007 product releases for Press Pass & Wheels trading cards, Ertl sports die cast, and Full Metal Alchemist TCG are on schedule and it’s business as usual,” Bove added.
