Fraom the AP wire comes this interesting tidbit:
At least one Miami-Dade official thinks it’s an embarrassment to have a street named after retired baseball player Jose Canseco.
That’s why Miami-Dade County Commissioner Joe Martinez — whose district includes Jose Canseco Street — is proposing a resolution to have the name changed. If the resolution makes it through a committee, it will go to the full Board of County Commissioners for a final vote.
Martinez says the main reason he wants the name change is Canseco’s admitted steroid use. Canseco graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High. He revealed his steroid use — as well as that of other players — in his 2005 book, Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big.
