Upper Deck VIP Set Features Current and Past Superstars

VIPs at the 30th National being held July 29-August 2 at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio, are in for a great treat. The Upper Deck Company will provide a 10-card VIP Set which has something for everyone. Featuring superstars from the past as well as current greats, the Upper Deck VIP set crosses all four major sports.

Leading the way is Cleveland Cavalier Great and 2008-09 NBA MVP LeBron James. James led the Cavs to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2008-09. Also from the hoops world comes LeBron’s predecessor as the best NBA player of his time, Michael Jordan. Jordan was elected to the Naismith Hall of Fame this year and will be inducted in Springfield in September.

Baseball is also very well represented in the 2009 Upper Deck VIP Set. Leading the way is the all-time great pitcher of the Cleveland Indians, Bob Feller. Feller won 266 games for the Indians in a career interrupted in his prime by service during World War II. "Rapid Robert" threw three no-hitters during his illustrious career. Feller will also appear during the week at the Tristar Autograph Pavilion. One of Feller’s contemporaries, Joe DiMaggio, joins him in the set. Current greats Ken Griffey Jr., a member of baseball’s very exclusive 600 Home Run Club and Derek Jeter, who is closing in on 3,000 hits and climbing the list of Yankees All-Time records in several categories are part of the set. Current Indian superstar Grady Sizemore completes the list of baseball stars.

From the NFL comes All-Pro quarterback Peyton Manning. Since his debut in 1998, Manning has compiled stats which rank him among the greatest players in NFL history. A nine-time Pro Bowl selection, Manning has been the NFL’s MVP in three of those years. Named MVP in Super Bowl XVI, Manning is already 7th in career passing yardage and 4th in career TD passes.

Finally from the NHL comes "Mr Hockey," Gordie Howe. Howe recognized as one of the greatest hockey players of all time is the only NHL Player to play in 5 different decades. Howe won the Hart Trophy, emblematic of the NHL’s MVP on six occasions. Joining "Mr Hockey" is current great Sidney Crosby. Fresh off the Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup victory at the tender age of 21, Crosby has a very bright future ahead of him. Already named NHL MVP as the youngest player ever to win the award, "Sid the Kid" looks forward to many more years as one of the premier players in hockey. Sets will be provided exclusively to attendees of the 2009 National who purchase the VIP or SuperVIP Admission Package.
