Dreams sets record; announces venture with AOL Sports

The Internet division of Dreams, Inc., reported that it set a new company record for single-day online sales earlier this week. The company said it received 15,918 orders on Dec. 15, for sales of $1,029,595. The previous record was set Dec. 12, 2007, (13,233 orders with a value of $890,000.

“We count ourselves fortunate to have such success at a time when many retailers are struggling,” said Kevin Bates, president of Dreams’ retail operations. “More people every day are letting us know that they like the products we offer, the service we provide, and the value we deliver.”

Meanwhile, AOL Sports and Dreams have launched the FanHouse Fan Shop, an online store featuring apparel, collectibles and authentic autographed memorabilia directly on FanHouse, AOL Sports’ blog site. Dreams is providing a variety of licensed sports products to FanHouse consumers. AOL Sports generates more than 10 million unique visitors each month. “We are excited to work with Dreams to offer our customers an opportunity to buy sports memorabilia and other licensed sports products directly through FanHouse,” said Derrick Heggans, general manager of AOL Sports.

In addition, live autograph sessions will soon be available on FanHouse, where visitors can order signed memorabilia and interact with their favorite sports stars and celebrities while viewing live signings of their own items. Dreams officials said this will mark the first time a major sports site has featured an integrated live-video signing of personalized memorabilia.
