Donruss Playoff’s final football release of the 2006 season ships Jan. 31, and the company certainly believes it has saved its best for last. Playoff National Treasures Football will carry a $500-per-pack price tag, with the company pledging “more quality hits per box than any super high-end program to date.”
The $500 suggested retail price is the highest ever for a Donruss Playoff product.
Each pack – or more specifically, each wooden box – will be packaged with six autograph or memorabilia cards and one common or parallel. “We spent more than a year designing this program,” said Ben Ecklar, Donruss Playoff senior football brand manager. “We listened to the feedback and knew that to make this work, we had to have an emphasis on high-end autographs. We guarantee that at least three of the cards in the box will come autographed by these historical figures or the top past and present NFL players.”
The program will include signatures from Hall of Famers such as Walter Payton, Johnny Unitas and the first autograph/memorabilia cards of Otto Graham, historic figures such as Thomas Edison and Mother Teresa, as well as presidents such as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Memorabilia cards in the set include 1-of-1 Prime Materials NFL Logos Signatures; Rookie Signatures Combo Materials featuring game-used materials from 2006 rookies and serial-numbered to 99 or fewer; HOF Greatness Quad Signature Materials Prime, featuring four swatches of material and an autograph from a Hall of Famer and numbered to 25 or fewer.
