Upper Deck, USA Baseball sign multi-year agreement

Upper Deck and USA Baseball have teamed up again for an exclusive, multi-year trading card licensing agreement. The agreement will allow Upper Deck to feature members of the USA Baseball National Team and USA Baseball Junior National Team on insert cards in a number of upcoming baseball product releases. The first product to include USA Baseball inserts will be Upper Deck Series 2 Baseball, which will be released in May.

This is not the first time Upper Deck has worked with USA Baseball. The card company first manufactured USA Baseball trading cards in 2000, the year that Team USA captured the gold medal at the Sydney Olympic Games. Upper Deck also produced Team USA card sets that the organization sold to help raise funds. The new partnership also gives Upper Deck the right to manufacture trading cards of the U.S. Olympic Baseball Team that will compete in the Beijing Olympics this summer.
Upper Deck also obtains the rights to game-used equipment and autographs from the USA Baseball National Teams and the Olympic Baseball Team.

“We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with USA Baseball again,” said Tim Muret, VP of collectibles and memorabilia for Upper Deck. “The USA Baseball National Teams annually feature some of the game’s best prospects. We look forward to sharing this talented group with collectors who enjoy the opportunity of owning tomorrow’s superstars today.”
