Press Pass has announced plans to bring its popular Legends brand to basketball with a product that will release in January. The company introduced the brand in racing last year and expanded it to football this past season.
“The response to the Legends product has been very strong, and the inaugural release in football was particularly popular,” said Tom Farrell, Press Pass’ director of sales and marketing. “Similar to the football release, Legends Basketball will feature five autograph cards and one game-used jersey card per box.”
The 70-card base set will include the likes of Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West and Isiah Thomas in photos from their collegiate careers. There will also be a mix of this year’s top young stars and prospects. Each pack will yield at least one sequentially numbered card, every box will deliver at least three autographs from retired greats, and 1-of-1 Press Plates will be seeded at least one per case.
There will be four insert sets featuring autograph cards, including Alumni Association Ink, which features dual autographs of the top players from some of the biggest schools in the country, and Naismith Award Winners, which honors those who have earned the coveted award as the nation’s top collegiate player. Saturday Swatches jersey cards feature game-used collegiate jersey swatches from Chris Paul, Danny Granger, Sean May and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Press Pass is not releasing a suggested retail price on the product, but its wholesale pricing is the same as the football product, meaning packs will likely have retail prices in the $8-$10 range. The product packaging will again feature 18-pack boxes that can be sold in six-pack mini boxes.
