It’ll be a party atmosphere for more than 25 NBA rookies who are scheduled to attend the 2007 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot Friday at the MSG Training Center in Tarrytown, N.Y.
Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Jeff Green, Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah are among the players who have committed to attend the event.
“We’ve invited all of the first-rounders as well as some of the second-rounders, so it’s just a matter of people’s availability and hopefully most people are available and want to attend,” said NBA senior director of trading card and memorabilia Lisa Goldberg. “However, there are different camps and obviously people have some obligations that we didn’t know about, but we’re hoping for a good turnout.”
Topps and Upper Deck photographers will take photos of the players at a variety of stations that will include action shots, portraits and autograph signings.
“Photographers from both of the card companies will be present at the photo shoot, as well as photographers from our own NBA photos group,” said Goldberg. “The players will be divided up into two groups and they will rotate through everybody’s stations. The card companies submit some ideas to tell us what they want to do. Some will have an action station where they do some slam dunking. They come up with creative ideas, like using smoke to create some dramatic looks. I don’t know right now what specifically everyone is doing, but it’ll be similar to past years.”
In addition, EA Sports will host a gaming tournament Thursday night where the rookies will go head-to-head in NBA Live ’08 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich Hotel in Old Greenwich, Conn. Brewer and Noah are also scheduled to make an appearance Thursday night at American Legends, a hobby store in Scarsdale, N.Y.
