Gibson items to be featured in Legendary Auctions live sale
Significant personal collections from two extremely important baseball figures will take center stage at the House of Blues on July 31 at 8:30 p.m. in Cleveland. Historically noteworthy items obtained directly from Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson and from the family of 19th-century pitching sensation Bill Hoffer will be showcased in Legendary Auctions’ live auction.
The sale will include 69 lots, with a portion of the proceeds from the auction benefiting the Baseball Assistance Team (B.A.T), Gibson’s charity of choice. Doug Allen, president and CEO of Legendary Auctions, commented on the annual live sale that has been held for the past three years during the National Convention, without an official link to the show itself. “There is the fact that these items have never been publicly sold. Gibson’s items come directly from him, and Hoffer’s treasures were safeguarded by his descendants for over a century. They represent the epitome of fresh hobby material and that is sure to drive spirited bidding,” he said.
